Calif. couple finds $10 million in rare gold coins

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Walking the dog turned into a golden opportunity for one California couple.

The pair found $10 million in rare, mint-condition gold coins.

Nearly all the coins -- which were found buried under an old tree on their property -- are dated from 1847 to 1894, and some are so rare, experts say they could go for nearly $1 million apiece.

The couple plans to sell most of them through Amazon to pay off bills and donate to charity --but before selling them, they will loan some for a national money show in Atlanta.
