LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A face-off is taking place in Washington -- and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul is at the center of it all.

The Republican has announced he's putting a hold on the new nominee for Surgeon General.

In a letter to Harry Reid, Paul says he's concerned Dr. Vivek Murthy has a history of "political advocacy" that will keep him from being impartial.

Paul says he will object to the confirmation of the Doctors for America co-founder.

A spokesman for Reid is accusing Paul of making a routine out of holding up qualified nominees.
