LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Supporters of medical marijuana will get another chance to make their case today in Frankfort.

The House Health and Welfare Committee will hold a public meeting Thursday afternoon for what's being called the "Cannabis Compassion Act." It would allow people who suffer from conditions such as cancer and Multiple Sclerosis to use marijuana, if their doctors approve.

The bill is sponsored by Representative Mary Lou Marzian, a Democrat from Louisville, who is also a registered nurse.

A similar bill has been introduced in the Senate, but has not been scheduled for a vote.
