Ky. bill would require that consumers be notified immediately of data breach

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky is moving forward with a bill to protect consumers.

It comes after the massive Target security breach.

The bill would require businesses, corporations and state or local government entities to notify consumers immediately of a an attack on personal or financial information.

Kentucky is one of only four states without a law to protect consumers from security breaches

It passed a House committee Thursday and now goes to the full House for consideration.
