BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- A car rear ended a semi-truck on I-65 Southbound Saturday evening, causing traffic to back up while Bullitt County officials investigated.

Lt. Mike Murdoch with the Bullitt County Sheriff's department told WDRB by phone that a 40-year-old female driving a passenger vehicle rear ended the Semi in the right lane. Both vehicles were moving.

Murdoch says alcohol appears to be a contributing factor. The woman was taken to University hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The scene was cleared Saturday evening, but Murdoch says travelers should use caution in the area Sunday morning as officials will stage a reconstruction of the accident.

The wreck happened around 4:30 PM Saturday.
