LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- All eyes are on the red carpet tonight as stars dress their best for the Academy Awards, and a local designer is hoping to take center stage with the stars.

The glitz and glamour of award season peaks at the Academy Awards.People will be talking about who is wearing what.

"This is Paula Abdul from the Oscars last year," said Michael Scheser, executive director of Ronaldo Designer Jewelry.

This year, Ronaldo Designer Jewelry is taking center stage.

"We have a member of the pussycat dolls, wore it on the red carpet at the Grammy this year. This young lady is from the Dexter Showtime show she's wearing our earrings," said Scheser.

The fine jewelry is made by hand in this small shop in New Albany. Ronaldo Designer Jewelry has been around for decades, but took off about five years ago and landed a spot at the Oscars.

"We're gonna give out love knots and we're going to do some special large gemstone settings to see what we can get on the red carpet so that's exiting," said Angie Williams, VP of Art Design.

But what is it about this jewelry that's gaining so much attention?

"People really like that its made here in the united states, its made by Americans and they really like the fact that it's unique and there's a story behind each piece of our jewelry," said Scheser.

Designer Ronnie Needham says it's personal, people appreciate the work of art

Needham says, "Anywhere we go we outsell any jewelry line, we don't sell jewelry products we sell the stories the romance."

"Different stones or different configurations can bring out someone's feeling," said Williams.

The bracelets, earrings, and necklaces don't run cheap. They sell for hundreds even thousands of dollars. It's a look designers hope celebrities will continue to wear.
