Louisville mom accused of abusing 7-month-old boy

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville mother was arrested just after midnight Tuesday, after police say she injured her 7-month-old boy.

According to an arrest report, the boy was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital after someone noticed bruising to the side of his face and ear. The boy was treated for his injuries.

When the boy's mother, 21-year-old Nakisha S. Gill, was questioned, police say she, "failed to provide a plausible story" to account for the injuries. According to the arrest report, she allegedly first told police that the boy was injured when a cousin dropped him. Police say she later told officers that she herself dropped him while "horsing around" with a man she could identify only as "KO."

Police say a pediatric nurse determined that the boy's injuries were not consistent with Gill's account.

Gill was arrested and charged with fourth degree assault (child abuse.) The charge is a misdemeanor.
