National Weather Service issues statewide drill

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The sirens wailed just after 10 a.m. across the state.

The National Weather Service triggered the statewide drill in Kentucky using a code.

Weather radios and TV stations broadcast a tornado test message.

Schools and businesses participated in the drill.

The test is part of Severe Weather Awareness Month.

"We have to kind of think about, what are the things that we're going to do before a tornado, during a tornado and after a tornado? So this gives us the opportunity to remind people that, if a tornado does come, when it does come, that we're going to be prepared for that. Do you have your kit ready?" said Jody Duncan, a spokesperson for MetroSafe.
