Gov. Pence thanks Indiana first responders

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana's Governor Mike Pence met with first responders in Indiana Thursday to thank them for their hard work this winter.

Pence stopped by the Jeffersonville fire station this morning to thank them for their tireless dedication to service, especially during the recent winter storm.

"This has been one of the toughest winters of my lifetime, all across the state of Indiana," Pence said.

"And our local law enforcement -- our fire, emergency management, and local road crews have just done such an extraordinary job that I didn't want to miss the opportunity to come here and express the heart-felt appreciation of all the people of Indiana for a job well done."

Pence also presented an award to Utica Fire Chief Donovan Harrod for rescuing a man from drowning in October.
