LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- More Kentuckians are getting back to work in 2014.

The state Education and Workforce Development Cabinet says the unemployment rate was down in January 7.7 percent. In December of last year, the unemployment rate was 7.9 percent.

Kentucky's construction sector posted an increase of 2,600 positions at the start of 2014.

The government sector, which includes public education, public administration agencies and state-owned hospitals, gained 1,100 jobs in January.
