LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- They ignored warnings and caused the collapse of a Kentucky bridge, according to a lawsuit. Now, transportation officials are suing the crew of a cargo ship.

According to a lawsuit, the Ky. Transportation Cabinet spent at least $7 million to repair the Eggner's Ferry Bridge after the Delta Mariner hit it in Jan. 2012.

The wreck sent a more-than 300-foot section of the bridge crashing into the water.

The suit claims the ship's crew ignored warnings about the bridge's navigation lights being out.

Owners of the cargo ship have not commented on the lawsuit.
