LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Iroquois High School student has been arrested and charged with a felony after Louisville Metro Police say he was caught carrying a concealed deadly weapon on school property.

According to an arrest report, it happened Thursday, March 6, just before 9 a.m.

Police say 19-year-old Andre D. Handley was in his basic nutrition class, when he reached into his purple backpack to pull out a hoodie, and a black handgun fell out.

A teacher witnessed the incident, police say, and called security.

Police confronted Handley, and when asked if he had anything on his person that would get him in trouble, he allegedly told police that he had a BB gun in his backpack.

Officers say they searched his backpack and found the BB gun, which was not loaded.

Handley was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon on school property, a felony, police say.
