Louisville man accused of assaulting father
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is accused of assaulting his father during an argument about a woman.
According to an arrest report, it happened Friday, March 7, at an apartment in the 4100 block of Hillview Avenue near Dixie Highway. That's when police say 30-year-old James Jeffries became upset when he heard his father had been "coming on to his girlfriend" and allegedly grabbed him by the throat and choked him.
During the attack, police say Jeffries thrust "a long knife toward his father's neck." Police say the victim managed to block the knife with his left arm but sustained a knife wound to his lower tricep and ran from the apartment to a nearby liquor store on Dixie Highway for help.
When officers arrived, they found Jeffries still in the apartment. According to the arrest report, he told officers he had been drinking all day and had used heroin earlier.
While being questioned by police, the arrest report says Jeffries stated he "may have stabbed his father on accident with the ash tray."
Jeffries was arrested and charged with assault.
