LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Pizza chain Sbarro has filed for bankruptcy.

The move came less than three weeks after it closed more than 40 percent of its U.S. stores. The company says the bankruptcy is part of a reorganization plan with creditors that hold 98 percent of its debt.

It's expected to help get rid of about $140 million of debt and move the company forward.

This is the second time it's filed for bankruptcy in less than three years.
