SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A student was arrested at Shelby County High School Monday after he allegedly threatened another student with a knife.

According to a news release from Shelby County Public Schools, the student brought a knife to school Monday morning. When he threatened another student with it, adults and other students quickly got involved.

Police were called and the student was arrested.

Parents of the students who were directly involved were notified personally, and all other parents of high school students were contacted using an automated One Call Now system with a recorded message.

The recorded message from Principal Oakley stated there had been an incident, but officials had responded quickly and school was continuing normally.

A letter was also sent home to all parents.
