LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Shelbyville Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for criminally abusing a child under the age of 12.

According to an arrest report, 28-year-old Alexander L. Miner was arrested after the boy's natural father went to the police and filed a report after he claimed Miner physically abused his son.

Police say Miner is the boyfriend of the victim's mother.

According to the arrest report, the boy complained that Miner grabbed him by the face "hard" and slapped him twice. He then allegedly locked the boy in his room and tied the door shut with a belt.

Police say Child Protective Services was called and that injuries sustained to the boy's face were consistent with "grab markings."

Miner was arrested and charged with first degree criminal abuse, according to the arrest report.
