LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- There's no idea when the Milton-Madison Bridge will reopen.

In the meantime, the detour options put emergency service vehicles in a compromising situation. To help, a ferry is expected to be in service later today to transport emergency officials across the Ohio River.

A structural problem forced officials to shut the bridge down yesterday.

It was just days away from being slid onto the old, refurbished piers.

That will be rescheduled once engineers can make a full assessment of the bridge.
