Blessing of the Beer and Tapping of the Keg kicks of St. Patrick's Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Blessing of the Beer and the Tapping of the Keg kicks off the St. Patrick's week of celebration, March 13th, 2014, 5:00pm.

Join the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the BBC to celebrate the 9th birthday of the Bourbon Barrel Stout, launched in 2006.

A special ceremony will bless the beers at the brewery in preparation for the upcoming St. Patrick's Parade.

Everyone shows up around 5pm or so (Irish time you understand) at the BBC Taproom on 636 E. Main.

A special keg of BBC bourbon barrel stout, aged 5 or more years, will be blessed by Father Joe Fowler to be used at O'shea's on Baxter for the parade celebration.

The keg will be marched to O'Shea's on Baxter (approximately 6:30) for the Tapping of the Keg party.

O'Shea's Executive Chef Rick Adams will add his touch to the specials of corned beef and cabbage, bangers and mash, shepherds pie and Guinness Stew.

The Highland Reign performs at 7 p.m. with progressive Celtic music.

The Ancient Order of Hibernians' St. Patrick's Parade starts on Saturday, March 15th starting at 3pm.

People will line Bardstown Road and Baxter Avenue for this year's parade

The theme is "It's A Great Day For The Irish!".
