Renowned jazz musicians Dick Sisto and Steve Allee will bring their quartet back to the Clifton Center, 2117 Payne Street, to perform music by the legendary pianist and composer, Bill Evans. The concert is the fourth in a series focusing on the music of jazz music's most significant composers. St. Patrick's Day Parade

Begins at Baxter and Broadway in Louisville
The Ancient Order of the Hibernians St. Patrick's Parade is almost here - "It's A Great Day For The Irish!".  As many as 150 units are expected again for this year's parade that will step-off at 3 p.m. at Baxter and Broadway proceeding along the Baxter/Bardstown Road corridor. Often called the "people's" parade, families join a mix of decorated vehicles and groups along the route. As many as 50,000+ people watched or marched in last year's parade.  The morning of the parade, everyone is invited to enjoy an Irish Breakfast followed by a noon mass.

The evening begins at 6:30pm with a cocktail reception featuring a silent auction and the debut of the
Golden Ticket. The Golden Ticket features a luxurious vacation home valued at more than $5,000.
Tickets will be sold at Wrapped in Red and in advance starting March 1, 2014. Only 100 tickets will be
sold at $100 each. A scrumptious three-course dinner will follow the cocktail hour, along with a short program focusing on the services provided by the American Red Cross and a live auction, led by Elizabeth Monarch, with many memorable packages including unique experiences and vacations sure to delight. Tickets to the black tie
(red tie encouraged) event are $200 each. Opening at 9:00pm that same evening, the swank Red Lounge will feature complimentary cocktails, desserts and dancing to the live sounds of "Endless Summer." Gala guests enjoy free admission to the Red Lounge. Otherwise, tickets are available for $75 in advance or $100 at the door. The gala benefits the community disaster programs of the Louisville Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Give Peace a Chance Exhibit

John Lennon and Yoko Ono, in 1969, used "Bed-Ins" as a way to put themselves and their message of peace in the public spotlight. Through stories and photographs, the Give Peace a Chance exhibit will offer visitors the opportunity to sit on the edge of the "Bed-In" in Montreal that took place at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel for seven days in May of 1969.

ECO Kids Discovery Days

The E-C-O stands for Every Child Outside, and that's exactly where kids can be found during ECO Kids Discovery Days. Discovery Days take place the first and third Saturday of each month at Bernheim's Visitor Center.
Each ECO Kids Discovery Day includes:
·       Hands-on Discovery Stations, led by Volunteer Naturalists, at the Visitor Center from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
·       On Your Own Challenge, a self-guided adventure, available at the Visitor Center from 9:00-5:00 p.m.
·       Hike of the Day, led by a Bernheim guide, starts at the Visitor Center at 2:00 p.m. and runs 45-60 minutes
March 15: Spring Lookout
Be on the lookout for the signs of spring as nature awakens all around us! Kids and their families will have fun investigating springtime clues, and then exploring Discovery Stations and the Hike of the Day during the afternoon.

Bernheim's night programs add mystery and magic to make memorable experiences. As winter gives way to spring something new yet ancient appears in the heavens, and on earth. Exploring Bernheim at night provides opportunities to observe and celebrate these seasonal and nocturnal changes in our surroundings.
Full moon programs weave together stories about night ecology, moon lore, history and the magic of nature at night. Night hikes keep to open trails and roads so that travel without flashlights is possible. Raptor Rehab Visits Blackacre

The folks from Raptor Rehab and their feathered friends will be back for their first visit of the year this Saturday. Quilters' Day Out is an annual event.  We have all the guilds displaying their quilts and giving demonstrations.  There is the quilt challenge display and we also feature a quilter from the area.  This year we have chosen to highlight the work of an area gentleman.  We do not have very many men in our field of art, and we see that trend changing. Kenny Gilliland Memorial Fundraiser

The second annual Kenny Gilliland Memorial Fundraiser is a 5K/10K walk or run. Registration opens at 9a.m. and the race begins at 10a.m. There is no pre-registration but you will be required to sign up and give a donation of choice previous to the race beginning. All proceeds of this race benefit the Gilliland family who suddenly lost their husband and father while he was out for a run.  We will end the race with a prize for the first place man and woman. Louisville Grows
Farmer's Market and Garden Resource Program

The free workshop will be held from 11-12:30.  Louisville Grows is organizing a monthly farmers market and the Seeds and Starts garden resource program to be held at the People's Garden on every 3rd Saturday through November.  Members of Louisville Grows' Urban Growers Cooperative and community gardeners from the People's Garden and the Shippingport Memorial Garden (located at 2500 Montgomery St.) will have an opportunity to sell produce at the market, and neighborhood vendors will sell baked goods and other foods. Plants grown in the People's Garden' greenhouses, including kale, collards, strawberries, and flower starts, as well as seed packages, will be provided at the market at low-cost.  Plants, seeds, fruit trees, and produce can be purchased using SNAP benefits.  A free workshop will be provided each month on a seasonal gardening topic.  This month's workshop will be geared towards amateur gardeners and provide an overview on spring crops, growing techniques, and soil preparation.
