Judge grants Richie Farmer's request to delay prison sentence

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A federal judge has granted former Ky. Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer's request to delay his report date to a federal prison by a week.

The former UK basketball star was supposed to report to a federal prison camp in West Virginia on Tuesday, but his attorney is asking if he can report a week later, so he can watch his son play in Kentucky's state basketball tournament.

Farmer pleaded guilty to corruption charges, admitting he put friends on the public payroll while serving as the Ky. Agriculture Commissioner.

Farmer is now due to report March 25 to the federal prison in Hazelton, W.Va.,  to serve his 27-month prison term.
