LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Louisville Police are investigating a death that happened in the 1000 block of Esquire Alley early Saturday morning.

Police say 26-year-old Ashley Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene of a gunshot wound.

Another woman was "slightly grazed" by a bullet and taken to University Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Police haven't released any information about a suspect.

"Our homicide unit is on scene. They'll be talking, as you see there's a number of bystanders, so they'll be talking with witnesses as well as any residents to see if we can get any additional information," LMPD Spokesperson Alicia Smiley told WDRB News.

One woman on the scene says she heard several gunshots. Police haven't commented on that but say each victim was hit at least once.

Wednesday, police were called to a different shooting a block over on Esquire Alley. Police say the victim was a black man in his 20s. They told us his condition was "grave" earlier this week. Police didn't have any update on that investigation Saturday morning.
