"GHOST" comes to life on stage in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) --Swayze, Moore, Goldberg, they're three household names everyone knows now. Most of those actors can credit that, at least in part to "Ghost."

It's a movie about a murdered man whose spirit sticks around to help the one he loves. It was such a success on the big screen back in 1990, that it's now being brought to life on stage.

"Ghost: the musical" is showing at the Kentucky Center here in Louisville. The show is like some others when it comes to costumes, wigs, and props.

But it's a lot different, and more challenging when it comes to the lighting and video boards that really make the show what it is.

"We have all these crazy illusions that are so magnificent that you have to see them to believe them," lead actor, Steven Grant Douglas said.

Douglas plays Sam Wheat, and says that many of the movie's special effects are executed perfectly in the theater.

"One of the scenes that people remember from the movie, is Sam passing through the door. That happens live on stage right in front of the audience," he said.

How do they do it? That's a secret.

"My family, my friends still want to know how some of them are happening, and I can't tell them, it's not allowed," Douglas explained.

One thing he says he can tell you is-- if the movie still makes you feel a bit nostalgic, then you're going to love the musical.

The show runs through tomorrow. Tickets are still available, and start at $25.
