LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police shut down the intersection of Dorsey Lane and Ward Avenue in the Sycamore neighborhood to investigate a fatal car accident.
Metrosafe officials say the accident occurred at 10:55 p.m. Saturday night. The Jefferson County Coroner's office says 35-year-old Adam C. Andrew was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:04 p.m.
Officers say Andrew was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood will be handling the funeral arrangements.
Officers say the driver of a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was headed north bound on Dorsey, lost control while maneuvering the curve at the intersection of Ward Avenue, ran off the road, and hit two utility poles.
Immediately following the crash, police had to wait for LG&E to turn off the power to the area so they could further investigate the scene.
Police say they have no indication alcohol was involved in this crash, but on a holiday weekend, they say it's important to be careful.
"Everyone needs to make sure they have a designated driver. We certainly want people to celebrate, but definitely want them to do it in safe manner," said Louisville Police Public Information Officer Alicia Smiley.
Officers say speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
