LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Police say a Louisville man has been charged in connection to the stabbing on a TARC bus early Sunday morning that left two teens hospitalized.

Authorities say 44-year-old Anthony Rene Allen fled the scene on foot but officers were able to locate him a short distance away. He's been charged with two counts of assault and tampering with physical evidence, according to LMPD.

Officers were called to the scene at 28th and Broadway at around 12:30 a.m. Police say the two teens were involved in an altercation with Allen on the bus.

Police say one of the victims, a 14-year-old boy, is in critical condition. "Doctors consider the situation very grave for him," said LMPD Spokesperson Alicia Smiley on the scene. Police say the LMPD Homicide Unit is investigating because of the boy's injuries.

Police say a 13-year-old girl was taken to University Hospital and is in stable condition.

J. Barry Barker, Executive Director for TARC, said in a released statement, "TARC is deeply disturbed and saddened by what has happened. Safety of our passengers and operators has been, and always will be, our number one priority. We are working with police in the investigation into this horrible crime. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims and to others impacted by this tragedy."
