LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a Louisville man was caught driving drunk with two children in the car.

The incident took place Saturday, just after 6:30 p.m., on Carrico Ave., near the intersection of Taylor Blvd. and W. Ashland Ave.

Police say 34-year-old Tow N. Po was driving a 2004 Volkswagen when he was involved in a car accident.

Two children -- ages 3 and 5 -- were in the front seat, without any kind of child restraint, according to an arrest report. Police say both children suffered minor injuries.

Po allegedly had glassy eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet. Police say they could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath, and that tests could not be completed because of Po's level of intoxication.

Police also say that Po only had an instructional driver's permit, and there was no licensed driver in the vehicle.

He was arrested at the scene and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, wanton endangerment, failure to use a child restraint device in the vehicle and instructional permit violations.

Officers say Po's actions, "created a substantial danger of serious physical injuries to both children."
