LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A New Albany man was struck and killed on Interstate 64 in Floyd County late Thursday.

According to a news release from the Floyd County Police Department, it happened around 10 p.m. on March 18. That's when police say 20-year-old Andrew Joseph Fischer was walking to get help after crashing his car near the 116 mile marker near the Georgetown interchange.

Police say Fischer walked into the path of traffic and was struck by a car. The driver of that car did stop and is not expected to be charged.

Officials say they are still investigating, but do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
