Belle of Louisville spruces up before 100th birthday celebration
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Thursday, March 20th, Keith Kaiser joined the Home Depot boys and many volunteers in the painting of the Belle of Louisville.
This year is very special because the Belle will be celebrating a centennial birthday.
Since her berth in 1914, the Belle of Louisville has taken over 7 million people for a cruise on America's inland waterways.
The Belle is America's last true Mississippi river steamboat still in operation, and she is preparing to celebrate her 100th birthday in October 2014.
All of her friends are planning to join her for the celebration during Louisville's Centennial Festival of Riverboats.
In October 2014, nine historic riverboats travel to Louisville for the six-day festival of food, bourbon, music and art at the Waterfront Park.
Enjoy live music, sample the finest spirits in the world and experience history, first-hand, as we celebrate The Belle's Big Birthday Bash.
The Belle's Big Birthday Bash is the featured event of the Centennial Festival of Riverboats.
Everything has been leading up to her 100th birthday celebration.
Enjoy entertainment like, the riverboat parade, live concerts, the Bourbon Pavilion and a grand firework show to end the celebration.
