LOUISVILLE, Ky. ---The defending national champion was less than 4 minutes away from getting bounced by 13-seed Manhattan, before Louisville finally pulled away to a 71-64 win.

A clutch 16-6 "boom", as the Cards like to call it, was the run that ended the game for UofL to set up a match-up with 5-seed St. Louis in the round of 32 Saturday at 2:45pm.

Somewhat forgotten in the nail-biting win was Russ Smith (18 points, 2 steals) breaking Peyton Siva's school record for steals with 256. He also passed Darrell Griffith and Pervis Ellison into 2nd on Louisville's NCAA Tournament career scoring list.

It's 4:30 AM here at Amway Center in Orlando as I write this. Believe it or not, it's early morning like this that make me love my job. It's a privilege for me to bring you content like this, even following a terrifying game for Cards fans, that ended after 1 AM.

As Rick Pitino would say...sugar, this is fun.
