LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Saint Louis did its best to make things fairly ugly, but after a slow start in the second half, U of L took control with a 9-0 run and went on to a 66-51 win over the Billikens in round three of the NCAA tournament in Orlando. The fourth-seeded Cardinals (31-5) move into the sweet 16 in Indianapolis where they will await the winner of Sunday's match-up between Kentucky and Wichita State.
Luke Hancock led the way with 21 points, including back-to-back threes midway through the second half to keep the Cards on top. Russ Smith and Chris Jones each scored 11. Montrezl Harrell had 10 to go with 11 rebounds. Fifth-seeded Saint Louis was 0-for-15 from the three-point line. They were led by 16 points and 10 rebounds from Forward Dwayne Evans. A-10 Player of the Year Jordair Jett had 15.
Both teams struggled with turnovers; 19 for Louisville, 18 for Saint Louis. The Cardinals won the battle of the boards 37-30.
