Whether you're a lifelong Cardinal basketball fan or bleed Wildcat blue, you had plenty to cheer about this past weekend. The University of Louisville took the first two steps toward defending their national championship by handling Manhattan and Saint Louis in a couple of hard-fought games. While UK's young giants provided what was probably the tournament's high point thus far by knocking off undefeated Wichita State to also advance to the Sweet Sixteen.
So now comes the moment everyone around here has been looking forward to since the brackets were posted – Louisville vs. Kentucky for the right to advance to the Elite Eight and possibly go on to bring a third consecutive national championship back to the Commonwealth.
It's nice to know one of these teams will get that opportunity. But it's also kind of sad that one will also see their season come to an end right around midnight on Friday. After some early struggles, both have upped their games to their highest levels in the past few weeks, and I'd love it if they could meet instead in the championship game on April 7.
But since that's not going to happen, let's get the conversation going. Which team do YOU think will win on Friday night? And, more importantly, why? Call and tell us, keep it as short as possible, and we'll try to share as many of your opinions as we can tomorrow.
I'm Bill Lamb, and that's my Point of View.
