POLICE: Louisville man charged for murdering 2-year-old boy

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Shively Police have arrested a Louisville man after they say he killed a two-year-old boy, according to a police press release.

Lajuan D. Hayes, 25, was arrested and charged with murder late Tuesday.

That's when officers responded to an apartment building in the 1800 block of Appleton Lane after receiving a call that a the child was unresponsive. Officers at the scene quickly determined that the child had suffered some type of physical trauma.

The child was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital for treatment. He underwent surgery Tuesday night, but succumbed to his injuries.

After an investigation police arrested Hayes, who was the child's babysitter and boyfriend to the child's mother, as the prime suspect in the case.
