POLICE: Former Sam's Club employee stole gift card from customer

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A Louisville man was arrested after police say he stole a gift card from a customer while he was employed as a cashier at a Sam's Club.

Julius Denson was taken into police custody on Tuesday morning after authorities allege he took a gift card worth $793 from a Sam's Club customer and kept it for his own use.

According to police records, the incident took place at on Feb. 10 at a Sam's Club on Preston Highway.

Police say Denson was assisting a customer at a cash register. The customer gave the gift card to Denson to pay for items. Denson reportedly threw the customer's gift card into a trash can and handed the customer a gift card that had a balance for $0.

Police records say Denson then retrieved the customer's gift card from the trash and hid it in his back pocket.

The incident was captured on surveillance video.

Denson is charged with theft.
