Water levels at Lake Cumberland to return to normal this summer

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Dam repairs at Lake Cumberland have kept the water -- and tourist levels -- low over the past few years, but the water will return to normal levels this summer.

After dam repairs, the discovery of an endangered fish in the southern Kentucky lake caused another delay. Officials now believe conservation measures will protect the species.

The Army Corps of Engineers will allow the lake to rise just over 720 feet, the normal elevation at the beginning of the recreation season.
