WDRB takes home 16 awards from Associated Press

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)

It was a special night for some of our WDRB colleagues on Saturday night.

Saturday was the Associated Press Awards.

WDRB was nominated in 16 categories, and took home six 1st place awards, five 2nd place awards, and 5 honorable mentions.

Valerie Chinn and photographer Dave White won for "Best Hard News Feature" for a story called "Behind the Scenes at Metro Corrections".

Valerie Chinn and photographer Jeff Gordon won 1st place for "Best Public Affairs", for a story called "Thousands of Homeless Students".

WDRB received a 1st place win for Best Website for wdrb.com .

Producer Jessica Denson received a 1st place award for "Best Continuing Coverage", for the David Camm trial.

Assistant News Director Jennifer Keeney, along with Gilbert Corsey and Elizabeth Woolsey, took home 1st place for "Best Spot News" for the David Camm verdict.  

Photographer Dominik Fuhrmann also won 1st place for "Best TV News videographer".

Valerie Chinn and photographer Dave White won 2nd place for "Best Special-Series" for "Heroin Epidemic in Louisville".

Producer Jessica Denson won 2nd place for "WDRB News at 10:00".

Jude Redfield won 2nd place for "Best TV Weather Anchor".

Photographer Dominik Fuhrmann won 2nd place for "Best Sports Videography" for "The Message".

Producer Jessica Denson won 2nd place for "Best Spot News" for "Bus Crash".

Steve Andress received an Honorable Mention for "Best Sports Feature" for "Counterfeit Golf Clubs".

Rachel Collier and photographer Dominik Fuhrmann received an Honorable Mention for "Best Light News Feature" for "Kentucky Boy with Progeria".

Bennett Haeberle and photographer Sarah Haeberle received an Honorable Mention for "Best Hard News Feature" for "She Was a Fine Lady".

Chris Sutter received an Honorable Mention for "Best TV News Anchor".

News Director Barry Fulmer and Producer Cara Catlett received an Honorable Mention for "Best Spot News" for "UPS Plane Crash".
