Health center turning green and blue to urge organ donations

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Jewish Hospital's Rudd Heart and Lung Building will be lit up in blue and green each night during April to raise awareness for organ donations, according to a KentuckyOne Health press release.
Blue and green are the colors of the Donate Life logo.
April is National Donate Life Month and is dedicated to honoring organ donors and their families and raising awareness for the need for organ donors.
According to a news release, there are currently more than 120,000 people on the organ transplant waiting list for a donor match, and roughly 150 people are added to the list each day. An average of 18 patients die every day waiting for a transplant because the organ they needed was not donated in time. A single donor can potentially save the lives of up to 50 people.
If you are a Kentucky resident, register to be an organ donor here. If you are a resident of another state, register here.
KentuckyOne Health will also host events later in April at University of Louisville Hospital and Jewish Hospital to honor organ donors who have given the gift of life.
