LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - LMPD officers arrested a man after they say he jostled a baby as police tried to apprehend him, according to an arrest report.

Stephen Bowen was arrested Tuesday night on Simmons Ct. after police say he grabbed a baby and jostled it violently, placing the child at risk of potential harm.

Police responded to a verbal dispute and Bowen informed officers that he and his partner became involved in an argument and he had planned to leave the residence. Bowen's partner was on the lease and Bowen had agreed to vacate the residence.

Police say that Bowen grabbed the baby and began walking around quickly in order to show his partner that he had the baby. Bowen began walking up and down stairs carrying the baby loosely in his arms.

Police records say the baby was being jostled violently and Bowen's actions placed the baby at risk of physical injury.

Police say they attempted to take the baby from Bowen in a gentle manner, but Bowen allegedly grabbed the baby by its torso and pulled in a rough manner.

Officers were eventually able to grab the baby, but police say Bowen continued to resist officers' commands as he was placed under arrest.

Bowen is charged with resisting arrest and wanton endangerment.
