Residents near Bullitt Co. sewage spill asked to conserve water

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hillview Mayor Jim Eadens is asking residents of two Bullitt Co. communities to conserve water after a sewage spill.

The communities of Hunters Hollow and Terry Blvd. Industrial Park are under an emergency water and sewage conservation.

Mayor Eadens is advising residents to limit water use for laundry and dishwashers to decrease the amount of waste for a malfunctioning treatment plant.

The plant in Hunters Hollow exploded and caught fire Saturday night and began pouring 400,000 gallons of raw sewage daily into a local waterway.

Temporary tanks are handling the wastewater from the plant.
