UK fan petitions Mayor Fischer to declare "Wildcat Blue Day"

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A University of Kentucky man launched a petition asking Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer to declare Friday "Wildcat Blue Day."

UK fan Jim Denny says it's only fair since last Friday was declared "Cardinal Red Day" when U of L played UK in the Sweet 16.

Friday, the Wildcats take on Wisconsin in the Final Four.

"The Mayor doesn't have any problem being a proud Kentuckian when it comes to the Kentucky Derby or the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, so I don't see why he can't be a proud Kentuckian in his official capacity to support the University of Kentucky," Denny said.

Denny argues about 50 percent of basketball fans who live in Louisville are UK fans. And he says it's not called the University of Lexington -- it's called the University of Kentucky.
