LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say two people were arrested after they were found in a home with drugs, weapons and three children.

According to arrest reports, officers went to a home on N. 23rd St., near Columbia Street, just before 7 p.m. Thursday, to investigate a report that there were drugs in the residence.

When they arrived, one of the residents allegedly gave them permission to search. Shortly after starting the search, officers found 28-year-old Aaron J. Cox and 27-year-old Timothy Donaway hiding in a closet, according to arrest reports.

Police say they also found multiple baggies of suspected heroin, multiple packages of pills, digital scales, cash and a shotgun.

And that wasn't all: police allegedly found three children -- all under the age of 8 -- inside the home. Police say Cox was the father of the children.

Both Cox and Donaway were arrested. Cox was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, and endangering the welfare of a minor. Donaway was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
