LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A south Louisville woman has been arrested after police say she exploited her elderly grandmother for financial gain.
According to the arrest warrant, 36-year-old Allison Marie Ray "knowingly and willingly exploited a vulnerable adult for personal gain."
Police say Ray's 83-year-old grandmother had been diagnosed with Dementia and requires care on a daily basis, so Ray took advantage of her grandmother's condition to access her money.
The arrest warrant states that Ray represented herself as her grandmother and accessed her stock accounts and "negotiated the sale of numerous shares of stock" between January 1, 2012 and January 31, 2013.
Police say Ray would deposit the proceeds from the stock sales her personal bank account, and that Ray's grandmother had no knowledge of the sales.
Ray is accused of stealing approximately $21,000 from her grandmother's accounts.
She was arrested April 3, 2014, and charged with knowingly exploiting an adult person, theft by unlawful taking over $10,000, and identity theft.
