INDOT says harsh winter cost Indiana $57 million

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- This winter cost the Indiana's highway agency millions of dollars.

INDOT says the harsh weather racked up a $57 million bill.

A spokesperson for INDOT says that amount is a record amount spent. It is also about 67 percent more than the agency has spent each year over the last five years.

INDOT used $437,000 tons of salt, 5 million gallons of salt brine and trucks traveled almost 9 million miles.

That totals up to about 18 round trips to the moon.
