LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Officials released the name of the man who was fatally shot Friday in Louisville's west end on Friday.

Jefferson Co. Deputy Coroner Jim Wesley has identified the victim as 21-year-old Ivan J. Bailey. Wesley said Bailey's cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds. Bailey was pronounced deceased at 12:11 p.m. by paramedics.

According to LMPD spokeswoman Carey Klain, officers were called to the 2100 block of Vermont Avenue just after 11:30 a.m. That's where authorities found Bailey in a vacant lot.

Klain says witnesses told investigating officers they saw a "tall black male" running away after the shooting.

One witness told WDRB he was visiting a company in the area and heard "six or seven shots" in rapid-fire succession within 100 yards from where he was standing.

Klain says police have no suspects at this time, but are following active leads. Anyone with information is asked to call the LMPD crime tipline at 574-LMPD (574-5673). Callers can remain anonymous.
