LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The National Wheelchair Basketball Association National Championships are taking place at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center this weekend.

The event included a celebrity game and an armed services game on Friday. The celebrity game featured local athletes and radio and television personalities.

The armed services game featured individuals from Fort Knox and Fort Campbell who were injured in the line of duty. Participants included Wounded Warriors, NWBA players who are veterans and current and former National Team Players.

Kevin Gant, who plays for the New York Rollin' Knicks, says he was injured 15 years ago, and was introduced to wheelchair basketball by a friend.

"At the end of the day we're all human and regardless of us suffering disabilities we enjoy playing sports and this is a sports platform on the highest level of wheelchair athletes," said Gant, "and I don't look at it as anything different of someone that is able-bodied that's a high end athlete."

The Junior Championships took place Saturday and the adult championships will be held starting at 9 AM Sunday morning.
