LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man who fell through a skylight when he allegedly tried to break into a downtown building last week appeared in court Monday.

Kenneth Splunge, using a walker, asked the judge to read the entire citation against him to make sure he understood why he was being charged.

The report details what happened when police say he tried to break into a downtown apartment.

Officers say Splunge fell through a skylight in the 300 building on 3rd and Main Streets last Wednesday.

Splunge called 911 to ask for help, but police say he told dispatchers that his friend had fallen through the glass. Investigators determined that Splunge was the caller after interviewing witnesses in the area.

He was taken to University Hospital with a broken leg.

A not guilty plea was entered in court on his behalf Monday morning.

This isn't the first time Splunge has been in trouble with the law. His criminal history dates back to 2000.

Splunge remains jailed on a $2,500 bond.
