LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Crews began the process of sliding the new Milton-Madison Bridge into place Wednesday morning.

As of 8:10 a.m., Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokeswoman Andrea Clifford reported about a half-inch movement at all five of the piers.

It's expected to move at about 10 feet an hour, and the whole process may take 16 hours. After the bridge is in place, workers will still have to do inspections, bolt it into place, and pour concrete, among other things.

The bridge is expected to be closed through the middle of the month.
