Trial begins for men charged in TARC bus shooting

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two men accused of shooting and killing a teen on a TARC bus in July of 2012 are on trial for murder.

Fourteen jurors were picked to determine the fate of Martin Keehn and Jeffrey Kingdon, both of whom are accused in the shooting death of 17-year-old Rico Robinson on July 23, 2012.

The prosecutor began opening statements by displaying TARC bus surveillance video from the day Robinson was killed.

According to police documents, Robinson was armed with a gun, as were both Kingdon and Keehn.

The defense argues Keehn did not commit a crime, saying it was Kingdon who shot Robinson. Kingdon claims the shooting was self defense.
