Louisville man cited for animal cruelty after allegedly beating pit bulls

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man who showed up at Louisville Metro Animal Services on March 18 to surrender his dogs ended up being charged after witnesses reported seeing him beating the dogs.

According to the criminal summons, 43-year-old Darryl R. Simmons was seen striking "his pit bull dogs numerous times" and didn't stop until other people intervened.

Simmons was cited for not having the animals properly licensed and charged with cruelty to animals.
