IU trustees approve new Evansville location for medical school

Posted: Updated:

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WDRB) -- Indiana University will build a new medical school downtown Evansville.

IU trustees approved the move this week after searching for the past few years. The new location would allow an expansion of the Evansville program from two years of study to four.

Three other Evansville area schools will also offer health science education and research programs at the campus.

Indiana University says it could attract 2,000 students once it opens in late 2017.

Evansville offered tax incentives to help with about half the almost 70 million dollar cost of the facility.
