Gov. Beshear signs bill banning sale of e-cigs to minors

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear signed Senate Bill 109 Monday, making it illegal to sell e-cigarettes to minors.

The bill places e-cigarettes under the same rules and regulations as tobacco products. It passed the Ky. legislature in March.

Retailers would also face the same fines and penalties for selling them to anyone under the age of 18.

E-cigarettes produce a vaporized or aerosol form of nicotine.

Before signing the bill, Gov. Beshear said that even e-cigarettes that claim to be nicotine-free are not reliable, saying "they're essentially unregulated in how they're made or sold."
