LMPD donates items to Wayside Christian Mission

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Local police spent some time out in the community Wednesday morning, but they weren't on patrol.

LMPD's Major Crimes Department brought donated items to people at Wayside Christian Mission's emergency shelter. It's part of the Mayor's "Give a Day" week of service program.

Detectives spent the last two weeks collecting toiletries and other personal care items, and partnered with Kentucky Harvest to deliver them.

"The chances we get to leave are in response to a scene," said Sgt. William Hibbs of the LMPD Major Crimes Department. "So it was a good chance for us to get out and see some different faces on a different scene."

"It's just wonderful when you see these type of folks in the community thinking about those who are homeless and doing what they can to help," said Nina Moseley of Wayside Christian Mission. "That's how Wayside Christian Mission has survived all these years."

Wayside Christian Mission says it can always use donations of canned veggies, juice and personal care items.
